Workshops are one of my favourite parts of my job. I love getting out from behind my computer and teaching people projects to use my designs in. Often my workshops only run for a few hours or an afternoon/ morning, so this year I designed a table runner to teach. As people of all abilities attend my workshops, I wanted a project which could easily be completed in a few hours or finished off at home, which made this project perfect.

I chose to use fabrics from my 'Dear Spring' collection for this particular project. One of the reasons behind this was because my workshops start quite early on in the year I wanted to use a collection which had only just hit the shops. I was also really inspired by pastels against the white background, which felt really fresh and evoked a feeling of Spring and Easter, making it great backdrop to floral displays, Easter lunches and special occasions. In this particular table runner I used 'Chasing Tails' – White, 'Spring Symphony' - Pale Turquoise, 'Blossom by Blossom' - Pastel Pink, and 'Ditsy Dance' - Dark Cream, but these can easily be swapped out for any of the other designs in my collection to create a more contrasting look.

The finished size of the table runner is 20" x 40", but you could easily extend this by adding additional blocks and borders. To style it, I paired the table runner with a table cloth which I had made using my double sided border print from the same collection. Additionally, you could use the blocks to create matching table mats to complete the look.

I wanted to keep the quilting on the table runner simple to showcase the fabrics, so I finished it off with a combination of quilting in the ditch and picking out some of the details in the blocks such as the flower. This worked really well as it helped to highlight the shapes used, yet didn't detract from the fabrics.

I was absolutely thrilled with the finished table runner and I can't wait to teach it this year. If anyone is interested in finding out more about the workshops I run, please don't hesitate to contact me.
