I've been seeing bow cushions EVERYWHERE recently, so when Sienna asked if I could make one for her bedroom, I just knew that my 'Sky Garden' fabric collection for Lewis and Irene would be the perfect designs to use. And of course I had to put a little 'patchwork' spin on it!

This cushion consists of 80 x 3 1/2 inch squares and a 4 inch strip for the centre. 28 of the squares on the front piece and 28 on the back are randomly placed to create a patchwork design. The strip of fabric, neatly cinches the cushion in at the middle to create the bow shape. The remaining squares I then sewed into strips to create the bow's 'tails.'

This quaint cushion isn't like the high street designs, as their tails are visible from the front of the cushion. I wanted ours to be slightly tucked out of the way so that they would drape nicely on a seat pad or over the arm of a chair. I really like this effect and I'm glad we chose to do it this way as it works really well.

The overall cushion was a big hit and Sienna has already asked me for another cushion to accompany it. For the moment though, this one sits sweetly on her reading chair next to her memory bear 'Autumn' who is made from the same fabrics.
