When you design a bold fabric collection, you need a quilt (or three) that really showcase those designs without being overpowering and confusing. Of course I knew that the lovely Sally Ablett was the designer for the job. The fact that Sally can make not just one but THREE stunning quilts effortlessly out of a fabric collection still astounds me to this day.

One of the things I love the most about Sally's quilts is that even though the three quilts are essentially the same pattern, they all look completely different due to where she has placed the fabrics. Changing the position of the lights, mediums and darks changes the look and feel of the quilts drastically. I always struggle to pick a favourite of Sally's designs to have made up and this time was no exception. Eventually we opted to make option three, but I equally could've gone for any of the other designs.

Each of the three quilts measures 48" by 48", making it perfect to snuggle under on those autumnal nights when you aren't quite ready to put the heating on. It's also a lovely quick project that doesn't feel at all intimidating because of the size. If you wanted to expand the quilt to fit on your bed or sofa, you can easily follow the pattern of blocks and extend it to whatever size suits you. The only difficult decision is which colour way to make. Although, you could always make all three and rotate them every so often to revitalise your space.

Comprised of several flying geese blocks, the resulting blocks create an almost interlocking optical illusion. The 'Forever Blooms' designs really 'pop' against the plain white background. This is intentional as the white fabric allows the designs to really sing. The white isn't overbearing against the paler shades either which I think using a textured blender or another colour would've resulted in the lighter designs becoming lost within the quilt pattern.

This particular quilt was long arm quilted by the lovely Joy Harber from Patchwork Joy. She has chosen a simple floral motif which compliments the fabrics beautifully.
