Meet my brand new quilting cotton fabric collection 'Sky Garden' in collaboration with Lewis and Irene. This collection is the thirteenth collection we've worked on together and I absolutely adore it.

The inspiration for 'Sky Garden,' began with the title. I really liked how the two words sat together and created an almost juxtaposing visual causing the viewer to challenge how we see a garden. A concept which I explored more thoroughly in my poem:
What if we’ve perceived it wrong?
We’ve been misguided all along.
We’ve looked at it the wrong way round,
A garden isn’t seen just from the ground.
Ask any bird or butterfly
Their view from so way up high.
Let them take you on an aerial odyssey,
Over wintersweet and pods of honesty,
Fluffy clouds in a floral sea.
Next to ivy hedgerows tipped in white
Leafy tendrils reaching up in delight.
Ahead branches dip in the Autumn breeze,
While sunlight filters through the leaves,
As it dances around the boughs of trees.
Casting out a verdant scene,
Turning everything to shades of green.
Berries that taste of honey dew,
Where the air is sweet, and the sky is blue.
Nothing compares to this lofty view.
Of sparkling jewels in the low, bright sun,
An opulent display not to be out done.
How could we, you or I,
Compare anything to this garden in the sky?

To begin, I'd like you to meet my hero print 'Sky Garden.' From the outset, I knew that because the concept of the collection was viewing a garden from an aerial perspective then the majority of the designs would be drawn as if viewing the flowers and foliage from above rather than side on. I also wanted this collection to have a romantic, graceful feel, which not only came from the colour palette, but by using delicate linear drawings in contrast to the more solid blocks of colour. Featuring rambling roses and autumn berries, 'Sky Garden' is available in 'Cream,' 'Pale taupe' and 'Green Grey.'

All of the designs in this collection are tossed prints, as I wanted to create a collection which would be useful and fit seamlessly into your projects. My secondary print 'Floral Odyssey' was no exception. The butterfly on this design is my favourite as it really 'pop's against the background in all of the colourways. Available in 'Misty Jade,' 'Light burnt Sienna' and 'Deep Teal', the colours of these are really sumptuous.

Sometimes my favourite designs in a collection often end up being the co-ordinates. 'Ivy Trail' was a delight to draw and put into repeat as it felt like it had a seamless flow to it. Inspired by the line of my poem, 'Next to ivy hedgerows tipped in white, Leafy tendrils reaching up in delight,' I really enjoyed focussing on the delicate ivy heads. I adore all three colourways, 'Cream,' 'Misty Jade' and 'Deep Teal' and can't wait to use these in a project.

'Scattered Sprig' is such a pretty co-ordinate. This design comes in the softest colours, 'Cream,' 'Pale Peach' and 'Taupe' which compliment some of the richer colours in the other designs. Pods of honesty, berries and foliage adorn this sweet print, which adds harmony to the collection, with the motifs dispersed across the design.

To balance this collection, I knew straight away that my blender fabric needed to be a low volume ditsy. Inspired by the line 'Fluffy clouds in a floral sea,' from my poem, I designed a little ditsy which looked almost like fluffy clouds. I love the almost textural quality of this. 'Wintersweet' comes in 'Pale Peach,' 'Green Grey' and 'Light Burnt Sienna,' which perfectly pick out the accent colours in the collection.

I hope you've enjoyed reading a little bit about what has inspired me for this collection. You can find ‘Sky Garden’ in all good fabric shops from November 2025. For a sneak preview of the full collection just click HERE.
