Dear Spring by Cassandra Connolly for Lewis and Irene

I am so excited to announce my fourteenth fabric collection ‘Dear Spring,’ for Lewis and Irene will be available in shops from January 2026. Featuring bunnies frolicking with butterflies amongst Spring flowers in soft pastels, this collection is a true love letter to Spring.

When I began designing this collection, I knew that was going to have a January release so needed to be relevant to Spring. After the massive success of 'Joy's of Spring' last year, I realised that this spring collection needed to be a little different but still keep within the Spring theme. In my 'Joys of Spring' collection I describe the joys of Spring being tangible, a concept which I love. This got me thinking why couldn't Spring itself be tangible and an actual character rather than a season. Spring as a being with a personality was so much fun to create and the best way I knew how to do this was through my poetry. By writing a letter to Spring, it instantly became an entity.

Dear Spring,

Oh, how I’ve missed you. You’ve been away so long!

I cannot wait to see you and have you back where you belong.

The primroses in the prairie, they gossip, and they natter,

I heard a warm whisper on the breeze, amongst all their idle chatter.

Someone said you’re on your way, please tell me is it true?

We’re planning to have a welcome party, and there’s so much left to do!

Everyone’s excited, from the blossoms to the blooms.

The rabbits have started gathering decorations, the birds are practicing their tunes.

Blossom by blossom, the buds have been dancing, ditsy with delight.

A sweet symphony of colour, causing quite a sight.

We’re counting down the days now. Not long until you’re here!

I’ve really missed your playful ways, your laughter and your cheer.

Funny, I fancied that I just saw you, outside where the sun is shining bright.

I thought I glimpsed your floral cloak, or perhaps it was a trick of the light?

I really must go now; you’re causing quite a furore.

I wonder, who could that be, knocking at my door?

Describing the excitement of Spring's immanent arrival, I tried to capture this through the use of tossed floral prints, spring animals and pastel colours, the epitome of spring. This collection also features my first ever panel, a repeat double edged border print. This has so much potential and I really can't wait to see this used in all of your projects.
