A pretty, floral collection calls for a delicate quilt design, so when it came around to designing a quilt for my 'Sky Garden' collection, of course I called the lovely Sally Ablett. If anyone knows how to design a quilt to showcase a collection of fabrics, it’s her. Not only did Sally design a quilt, she designed it in three STUNNING colourways. The only problem with this is if there is more than one colourway, it's always a difficult task to choose which quilt to have made up. I spend far too much time deliberating over which design to choose because they are all beautiful in their own merit. Each has a personality of it’s own and elevates a space in a different way. So if you are like me and struggle choosing which design to make, then perhaps just make all three because you won't be disappointed!

After much consideration, I finally decided upon the green version, purely because it goes with our current décor. However, I am contemplating changing the décor just so that I can have all three made up, hehe!

Each quilt measures 50" x 50", however if you wanted to expand this to fit on to a larger bed or sofa, then you could easily add extra blocks, taking care to follow the pattern placement. Due to the size of the quilt, this project doesn't feel too intimidating. It will certainly help you to practice matching all of those lovely points with precision.

To me Sally's quilts always feel modern, even though she often uses classic block shapes. The addition of the white background fabric really allows the collection to breathe and helps the paler colours to stand out without getting lost, which can happen with lighter designs.

The long arm quilting detail in this throw is really pretty. The floral stitching works really well with the gentle florals and doesn't distract in the slightest, but adds to the design. Each throw's border is the hero print of the collection which is also used within the blocks of the throw, tying the design together beautifully.
