'Evenfall' EPP Flower Quilt
Confession time! I am the worst at finishing projects. I have so many ideas and not enough time to do them in. I often find myself starting projects, only to get distracted by more urgent or pressing jobs and subsequently forget all about them. Recently when looking for something in my wardrobe, I came across a whole bag full of WIP's. Oops! So, I decided to make it my mission to finish some of these before I'm allowed to start anything new, starting with these 'Evenfall' EPP flowers.

Until last night, this floral EPP panel was folded up in the bottom of a carrier bag, now it's a lovely lap quilt. It really didn't take long to baste, quilt and bind it as all of the time consuming piecing had already been done.
When I started this project, I knew I wanted to use my 'Evenfall' collection because of the extreme contrast between the lights and the darks. As there is a bit of spacing between the flowers I didn't want to use a plain white background as it would've felt too stark. Instead I opted to use the tone on tone blender from the same collection, not just to make the EPP stand out, but to also allow it to tie the pieced flowers in with the background.

It seemed only fitting to photograph my finished quilt during evenfall. The soft lighting doesn't create any harsh shadows and picks up the subtle quilted elements. While all of the flowers were appliqued on by hand, I did machine quilt around some of the flowers and their centres to add some extra detail.

I'm really pleased with how this quilt has turned out. The sense of satistafction in finishing it has also taught me a valuable lesson. Following through with old projects really is worth it, no matter how long they've been tucked away. Now on to the next one...
