When designing this collection I visualised the fabrics being made up into quilts and throws to snuggle under during long autumn days. When collaborating with Sally I knew a throw would be perfect to encapsulate my vision. One of my favourite things I love to do is sit with a cup of tea and read, and as the weather turns and grows colder this is made even better by cuddling under a cosy quilt. One of the perks of a throw is because they aren't as big as a bed quilt, they can easily be stored for the months that they aren't in use. Measuring 49" x 49", while this is a decent size throw it can effortlessly be folded up into a small square taking up very little room.
This throw is perfect to accessorize with autumn décor and elevate a sofa or chair. Being smaller than a regular quilt, this would be the perfect handmade project to gift a friend. The throw is made up of four blocks using ten of the fabrics from my 'Squirrelled Away' collection for Lewis and Irene to create a visually striking design. The background cream, adds a warming addition to the autumn tones, but you could also use an ivory or textured fabric to create a similar effect.
Alternating the lighter and darker 'Flying Geese' blocks whilst sandwiching the diamond shape blocks in between, Sally is a master of arts, creating a striking pattern with the prominent purples. Adding small blocks to the stripped border gives the design an overall cohesive feel. The use of 'Mushroom Medley'- on Burnt Orange brings the design together and highlights some of the gorgeous oranges depicted. This design encapsulates Autumn perfectly and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Long arm quilted with beautiful oak leaves and acorns to finish, this throw would make a lovely treat for yourself or gift for a friend.
