Who needs an excuse to snuggle under a quilt what ever the weather? Not me! With spring weather being some what unpredictable, I knew that a throw would be perfect to encapsulate this collection. Something which could be easily stored and effortlessly folded away as the weather gets warmer, but brought out again when the chill returns to the air. This throw is a perfect addition to your Spring décor, helping you to get in the mood for warmer weather. The final throw size is 52" x 52" making this a manageable sized project. It would also be the perfect handmade project to gift a friend.
The throw is made up of 11 fabrics from my 'Floral Song' collection for Lewis and Irene. The white background fabric, gives the quilt a modern feeling and compliments the lighter fabrics so that they doesn't get 'lost' within the rest of the design. Made up using a combination of 'Flying Geese' blocks and 'Four Patch in a Square' to create an effective interlocking illusion, once again Sally has proved she is Queen of the Quilts. The use of the darker fabric ('Bloom' on navy) as an inner and outer border helps to draw the eye to the centre of the design, yet it doesn't feel too heavy, due to the way the flying geese blocks in the 'Bloom' on navy and the 'Daisies Dancing' on navy are dispersed which helps the eye navigate the design easily.
What I love the most about this quilt is how the look of it changes depending on what angle you look at it from. The way some of the corners of the blocks merge into their neighbouring blocks to create an interlocking design and draw your eye around the quilt is really effective. Additionally the contrast between the darks, lights and mediums create a beautiful comprehensive design.
Long arm quilted with a beautiful swirl design, this throw would make a lovely treat for yourself or gift for a friend. If you'd like to make this gorgeous throw simply follow the link or head over to the 'PROJECTS' page.
