I was so excited when the lovely Sally Ablett agreed to design another quilt for me, this time using my 'Meadowside' fabrics for Lewis and Irene. The quilt which she made from my 'Heart of Summer' fabrics has since been stolen by my daughter and now sits pride of place on her bed. Sometimes I find it being used to make a den in her bedroom in which to snuggle under and read books, which I'm a little envious about as I'm too big to fit underneath it. When Sally agreed to design and make a quilt in my 'Meadowside' fabrics I knew I wasn't going to let this one out of my sight!
During the design process Sally sent me several mock up ideas and I knew instantly that this was the design to showcase the fabrics. Consisting of two blocks, a basic log cabin and a version with corner triangles, when sewn together this creates a lovely intricate woven 'knot' between the designs. The pale blender highlights the design, making it look less like a quilt and more like a work of art! Bordered by 'Small Seeds- Dusty Linen' and 'Grassfield Gathering-Mauve Taupe' the quilt is brought together by the pretty shades of purple.
Again Sally has managed to bring my designs together in a way which really compliments the collection. I would like to say this will be an heirloom passed down throughout my family, but maybe in time, not just yet. I intend to keep this one to myself for a little while at least!
