When I saw the hashtag #craftember pop up on Instagram, I was instantly intrigued. Craftember is a mission to get people crafting for just 10 minutes a day throughout the month of September (and hopefully beyond.) By encouraging mindfulness through crafting and bringing people together in a community, Craftember is aiming to help people's mental health especially at a poignant time of the year when the evenings are beginning to draw in and the weather is becoming a little colder. I was so intrigued and excited by this initiative that I knew I wanted to be involved. When I was chosen to be an ambassador I was over the moon.

Crafting and mindfulness are really important to me. When my daughter was born in 2016, my world was turned upside down. With all my focus on my baby girl, anxieties crept in and I started grieving for a piece of my soul I’d lost along the way. When a child is born they take a little spark of your heart with them and sometimes it takes a while to restore your inner glow. My husband rescued me. He encouraged me every single day, helping me to rediscover my creative core. Giving me time to draw and paint which led me to pattern design. The mindfulness of creating something not only helped me to deal with and distract me from my anxiety, but I wouldn’t be here as a pattern designer today without it.
